Juan Grez up in Patagonia. He started his career by practicing extreme sports being teenager. At the age of sixteen he started to dance Argentinean tango. Later on Juan was invited to perform and to teach in Spain during one year. After the tour he came back to his native toen in Argentina in arder to complete the professional degree in teachers department at the Experimental Dance Contemporary Dance School.
Finally Juan moved to Buenos Aires and received Special Recognition for his artistic a creative achievements from the Contemporary Dance Workshop program of the San Martin Theatre. There he studied and improved his skills in different techniques of contemporary dance such as Release, Contact Improvisation, Flying Low, Cunningham and Gram. Juan has taken part in different projects and productions as a choreographer and performer of his own works, as well as of other authors – both nationally and internationally. Among the most significant works,
Working as a choreographer: FYZ (Premium Prodanza 2005), ANSIA (Official selection of Ballet Teatro General San Martin 2006), Ocupaciones Breves produced by CIUDANZA 2008), Tualet (Premio Prodanza 2007) and Pack (created for the Dance Company of the Argentina’s national Institute of Arts). The mentioned Works have been well recognized and have obtained grants and awards from different institutions and festivals of Argentina;
Working as a performer with: Luis Garay, Pablo Rotemberg, Silvina Grimberg, Luis Biasotto, Exequiel Barreras, Roxana Galand.
In 2008 Juan together with Diego Mauriño created the Teatro del Perro. The space for research and creation of the Artistic stage Works. The theatre is completely independent and self manged, it doesn’t receive either count on any financial support from the private foundations or state supported organizations. There ar e numerous artists from Argentina as well as other countries developing and performing own artistic work in the theatre.
This year Juan has starded to work on his new production supported and produced by Centro Experimental Teatro Argentino de La Plata. This production brings together in dance piece teenagers and young performers coming form the high-risk social class and internationaly recognized artists. Premiere will take place in April 2011.
